An electronic version of the Fall 2008 Board Review is now available. Each lecture consists of a split screen format with a window displaying the lecturers' PowerPoint slides and the other window displaying video of the lecturer. The Electronic Review is now available for the same price in two formats, as either a Windows XP or Vista DVD or a Mac two DVD set. |
The DVD format includes the bonus feature of extra audio-only files of all the lectures that can be uploaded and played on portable MP3 players. Both sets include a bonus PDA- DVD of video files with narrated power point slides for viewing on iPhone, iPod Touch, and Windows Mobile 6 PDAs. This allows users to review 4 ways: On the PC with the speaker video and slides; PDA video of the narrated slides; reading the PDF handouts in print or on screen; and, MP3 audio only for jogging, car rides, etc. See the demonstration link above for a short video of this bonus feature. |
The Windows version requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6+ (free at http://www.microsoft.com) and the latest version of Windows Media Player (free at http://www.microsoft.com). Your computer will need a sound card and speakers to hear the audio. The Review requires either Windows XP or Vista operating systems. The Mac Version is compatible with Apple/Mac operating systems using Safari or Firefox web browsers and Flash video player. Windows users must accept ActiveX content when playing the Review. The DVD format can be played in a DVD or DVD/CD combination drives of a laptop or desktop PC. The DVD will not play in free-standing DVD player. A high speed connection (DSL or cable) is NOT required for this Electronic Review. |

As a demonstration of the (Windows) format utilized for the Certification / Recertification Review recording, you may view the complete lecture on "A Review of Hematology", presented by Allan Platt, PA-C. Mr Platt is a popular lecturer at state and national conferences. A copy of the lecture handout is also available. To view this demonstration you will need a current (i.e., Version 6 or higher) version of Internet Explorer and of Windows Media Player ( Version 10). A high speed connection (Cable or DSL) is required. Please be patient as the video file buffers and prepares to play; this may take a minute or two. Please note that this demonstration utilizes streaming files over the Internet. As bandwidth and connection speed can affect your reception of this file, we have chosen to release the final Certification / Recertification set only as a DVD set which will not require an internet connection. If you are prompted by your Browser that "Active X" content is detected, please "allow blocked content" to view the demo. ( Mr Platt also has web articles available on Anemia and on Bleeding Disorders.) |
The Review consists of lectures to refresh the learner's knowledge on a wide range of core medical problems and content including the following topics:
The Review Conference is designed based upon the list of topics potentially on the PANCE / PANRE blueprint as provided by the NCCPA, and by review of the PANCE / PANRE board exam matrix of question distribution. Obviously, the exact content of the PANCE and PANRE exams is confidential and not known to the developers of the Review Conference, and no suggestion is made that the Review Conference or practice exam questions represent the level of complexity or distribution of topics on the actual examinations. |

This free palm application is a downloadable zip file that requires you to download it and save it to your PC, use an unzip program, and then follow the directions in the "Read me first" text file.
