Beyond providing excellent medical care for our patients, as Physician Assistants we are called to be active in our Profession. For many PAs, this includes contributing to the professional literature. Others may have an interest in doing this, but are uncertain how to proceed.

Tanya Gregory, PhD, has been the Editor of the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (JAAPA) since 2001, and is an authority on writing for our profession. Dr Gregory earned her BA (with Honors) in English from the University of Oregon, and her PhD in English and American Literature from Rutgers University. She was a visiting lecturer at Rutgers, and  served in other editorial positions prior to becoming the Editor of JAAPA. Under her leadership, articles published in JAAPA have received numerous honors, including several awards from SNAP (the Society of National Association Publications) and multiple AAPA PAragon Publishing Awards.

The Emory PA Program was very pleased to host Dr Gregory on May 4, 2007, for a presentation to our senior students on the topic "Writing for Publication: Ten Steps to Success". Her excellent presentation was videotaped, and can viewed here in a split-screen format. You can also download a PDF version of her lecture handout.

(Viewing the split-screen format requires current versions of Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player, and acceptance of Active X content).

Please visit the JAAPA website.
